Sometimes downloading them can be a bit tricky, because as we all know downloading files from the internet is not always that straight forward.

JAN 31 | BRAND + LOGO SPOOF Due: Feb 13
Vectors transformation and manipulation is the objective here.
You will be RECREATING an existing brand/logo with the intent of spoofing it and making a parody. The design of the logo must be finalized in ILLUSTRATOR. You may use Photoshop to do some initial changes and transformations, but it must be a clean vector logo in the end. This means that your lines and shapes need to be straight, clean, and crisp. Usable Vector files are in Ai, EPS, and PDF. Research the typefaces and fonts used for the logo you've chosen. Find out the exact font if you can, or use a close match to recreate the name and slogan in the logo design. Make sure in the end that you "right click" and choose "CREATE OUTLINES". Some tools you should be using: PATHFINDER, and PEN TOOL. Your project will be assessed on a few things:

APRIL 1 | DESIGN: T-SHIRTS + APPAREL
"T-shirt design is becoming one of the most popular outlets for creatives. Whether you're an illustrator, graphic designer or typographer, the thought of having your design on a t-shirt is a pretty cool concept."
Media Arts gives you an opportunity to take on this creative quest. Mr. Choy has invested in some fancy expensive equipment to allow students the access they otherwise wouldn't have. Make good use of the equipment and resources, it's available for you! For this project you will create an ORIGINAL design, something that speaks of your own personality, individuality, and life passions. There are many ways to create a T-shirt, and they will be covered in class. Use the skills you've learned in Illustrator and Photoshop to begin creating mockups of what you want your shirt to look like. Because there is a cost factor in creating a shirt, if you do not want to pay for the materials you will not be docked any marks. However, there is a great value to yourself in making your designs materialize into a real physical end product. |

MAY 15 | FILM PROJECT [Your Choice]
For your final Media Arts 11/12 course project, you and your group will propose and create a film of your choice. You have free reign as to what your video entails, the only exception is that you come up with a formal proposal plan for your project.
Prior to beginning the project, all students will submit a PROPOSAL LETTER. The letter will be a statement of the student's explanation as to why they chose this particular project and their intended plan to successfully complete the project. This is a 15+ hour project, if your group does not put a minimum of 15 full hours into the project, you do not get a passing evaluation (15hrs of sitting around in class does not count). Students must have the project approved before the start of any work on the project. In this requirement, the proposal must be typed and formally written. Not just some random notes jotted down. Components of Proposal Letter:
A script and storyboard will be a mandatory requirement. Of course, depending of the project you are going, there are different degrees of planning needed. Camera Shots
A camera shot is the amount of space that is seen in one shot or frame. Camera shots are used to demonstrate different aspects of a film's setting, characters and themes. As a result, camera shots are very important in shaping meaning in a film. Reviewing the examples on the right hand side of this page should make the different camera shots clearer.
Camera Movements
Camera movement is one of the tools in the filmmaker’s arsenal that can bring life and a unique quality to the vast number of shots that comprise a film- in short, it helps shape the viewer’s perspective of the world created by the filmmaker. While often under-appreciated by the viewer, it is often one of the key elements in film that draws our attention and makes us enjoy what we are viewing.
Camera Angles
It is important not to confuse camera angles and camera shots. Camera shots are used to demonstrate different aspects of setting, themes and characters. Camera angles are used to position the viewer so that they can understand the relationships between the characters. These are very important for shaping meaning in film as well as in other visual texts.
Script Writing + CELTX
Scriptwriting is an art-form, and creating art is never easy. Every time you watch a TV show, watch a film or even play a video game you are taking in the work of a scriptwriter.
With today being driven by the various mediums of entertainment scriptwriting has becomes one of the best page and attractive jobs going. Film scripts have been sold for in excess of $1 million. With that sort of money floating around it's no wonder people are becoming more interested in the idea of scriptwriting. However scriptwriting can be a difficult and arduous task. Even the best of scriptwriters often have creative lulls and can go for years without writing a single script. |
